The Hunger is actually PWYC. Awesome experience- too bad it only lasts this weekend, but I guess all that bread would go mouldy.

I guess by your standard, every major city in the world looks "like a third-world hellhole".

Maybe what you're looking for is a gated community?

No one would mind a billboard takeover that was professionally done -- i.e. cleanly photoshopped images properly applied. Have all the impish fun you want.

But vandalism is vandalism is vandalism. Any messy, scrawling defacing of anything, for any reason, makes the city look like a third-world hellhole.

This much should be obvious to anyone.

I suspect this is less related to funding then to the expectations placed with the funding. Both the province and the feds have recently pushed for measurable targets in all their programming, with a focus on seeing people moving forward to another step. (i.e. employment, training, housing). And both have been reducing funding for anything smacking of activity without results.

Drop ins don't easily meet those metrics.

Its wrong headed thinking on the funders part.

DMYS is still open I believe. Also, YMCA is running a drop in program in the old Youthlink space. Still very concerning but thought I'd share this info.

I'll vouch for Fool's Paradise. It's one of the nicest settings you can imagine in the city and more than worth the trek to the bluffs. I'm glad it's in the hands of the Ontario Heritage Trust and not some developer of fugly McMansions.

How about last year when the TTC shut down the subway at the same time they closed the Don Valley Parkway?

Duh, do you people talk to each other?

I'm just so weary of being advertised at everywhere I go - Web pages, the highway, concerts that I pay gigantic amounts of money to attend. It hurts my eyes and saddens my brain far more than...erm...let's say, "non-lucrative random alterations".
