I could take them a bit more seriously if they showed knowledge the existing network. I see a lot of purple "existing MUP" lines on that map that don't exist as of today.

“From my understanding, the mayor is a big fan of subways and that works great for us,” said BIA chair Lorraine Chabot-Vecera...“I don’t think it’s necessarily a fantasy,” she said. “Unfortunately sometimes you have to play the wait-and-see game.”

I have no words for this. Except - keep waiting.

Actually, Vancouver should be the rightful owner of the term, Big Smoke, for reasons other than heavy fog.

I agree, it's not feasible to expect eg the Lower Don trail to be cleared of snow for morning commuters. On the other hand, lately the winters have been so mild there are only a few days each year when snow removal is needed. And it would cost untold millions to install lighting on all the MUPs.

Do you know if the remaining structure from the brick factory is still there or has it been torn down recently too. I haven't been along that stretch in a few years though I live just south of it across the tracks and empty industrial fields but I recall seeing an old building with something about brick making on its side in faded paint. I was glad at the time to see they had saved some of our industrial heritage in the area.

For those not old enough, the MCC was a prisoner of war camp during WWII and the grounds also held a brick making factory.

The transpired event is another example of our loss under this inept mayor and those counsillors who sided with him. these should be cleaned of their offices in the next election. keep watch on them and we will gather enough for a negative campaign add to wisk them out of office and get our Toronto back (if Ford has not destroyed toronto by then).

As an Etobicoke Lakeshore resident, in the lead-up to the last election I asked Mark Grimes if he was a Ford supporter, and he replied that he approaches each issue with an open mind, without influence. In retrospect, I'd have to say that was a lie.

Per kilometer cycled, the suburbs are way more dangerous for cyclists. Hopefully this helps more than removing the birchmount and pharmacy lanes hurt.
