The Parkdale Sugar Guy Reaches 1,000 Days

For some people, cookies are a sometimes-food, but for Jason Holborn, they are a never-food.

Parkdale’s Days Without Sugar Guy tastes sweet success today as he celebrates his 1,000th consecutive day without the refined white stuff.

Inspired to change his lifestyle after reading about the effects of sugar, since 2012, filmmaker Jason Holborn has tracked his mission to cut it out of his life with a sign in his apartment by King and Elm Grove. Visible from the King streetcar, the sign features Sesame Street‘s The Count next to his tally. The quirky and very-Parkdale public challenge has garnered a lot of local support—everyone in the neighbourhood knows about the Sugar Guy—and a bunch of media attention, too.

Holborn has periodically tracked his progress on his blog. Today, which is brought to you by the letter “M,” he reflects on his sugar challenge and writes, “Life is sweeter, life is better. Zero regrets. None. Anyone can do it.”

Congratulations, Parkdale Sugar Guy. We knew you could do it.
