Spotted: Jumping for Joy at the Pan Am Countdown Launch

Athletes, musicians, politicians, and a giant clock turn up to start counting down the days to the 2015 Pan Am Games.

SPOTTED BY: Richard Rhyme, from the Torontoist Flickr pool.

WHERE: Nathan Phillips Square

WHEN: July 11, 12:30 p.m.

WHAT: Trampoline champion Samantha Sendel, delighting crowds at the 1 year to go! #WeArePanAm Party. Sendel has been a member of Canada’s national team for more than three years, and she—along with fellow athletes Karen Cockburn and Jason Burnett—performed high-altitude stunts at a two-day event at Nathan Phillips Square kicking off the official one-year countdown to the games.

Also on hand were musical acts including Walk Off the Earth and Los Van Van, politicians (Premier Kathleen Wynne and Mayor Rob Ford each addressed the crowd—but from different sides of the square), and a giant clock that will keep you up to speed on the number of days, minutes, and seconds that remain until the Pan Am Games and the Parapan Am Games arrive in town.
