Jennifer Lawrence, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Martha Stewart pay tribute to the world's favourite political train wreck.
This is the age we live in: Toronto’s mayor is so infamous that American celebrities find it worthwhile to go on an American late-night talk show and recite lines from his press conferences. Rob Ford isn’t ours anymore. His crack scandal belongs to the world.
The video above is from last night’s Late Show With David Letterman. It’s a parody of a Ken Burns project, for which the documentarian got a bunch of celebrities and politicians to read the Gettysburg Address. Letterman’s version has Jennifer Lawrence, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Martha Stewart reading some equally pithy pronouncements from “the crack-loving mayor of Toronto,” all drawn from his recent media appearances. Naturally, there are a few classic lines from his crack confession earlier this month.
It’s nice that Martha Stewart feels rehabilitated enough to poke fun at other disgraced public figures. Clearly, the system works.
At any rate, enjoy.
