An accident involving a TTC bus has killed one person and injured at least thirteen others, according to TTC spokesperson Brad Ross. The crash happened around 11:30 a.m., near Steeles Avenue East and Middlefield Road. Ross said on Twitter that the driver of the bus was freed from the wreck with the jaws of life and taken to a hospital, though his injuries are thought to be minor. There are no reports, at the moment, indicating how many of those killed or injured were on the bus.
The CBC reports that the crash has caused power outages affecting around 5,000 customers, but that power is expected to be restored around 2 p.m.
Several sources are now reporting that the person who died was a female bus passenger.
