Scene: The Santa Claus Parade

WHERE: Throughout downtown.

WHEN: Sunday, November 18.

WHAT: The Santa Claus Parade is a 108-year-old Christmas tradition—one so beloved that it even once managed to survive a brush with insolvency by rallying donations from Toronto’s business leaders. This year’s instance wasn’t a whole lot different from those in years past, but that’s kind of the point of the whole thing. Click through the gallery to see a bunch of pictures of floats and happy kids.

More like the Christmas-Themed Toy Company & Corporate Sponsors Parade featuring Santa Claus As Imagined By Coca-Cola, am I wrong?

Considering it began in 1905 by the Eaton’s department store, it’s exactly the point.

Tyrannosaurus rek you are absolutely right. The only, and I do mean only, float without a logo on it was Santa. Even the second to last Santa’s village was a Toys R Us float. Merry corporate christmas!

It has, is and always will be the point of the parade. Why all the hand-wringing 107 years later?
