Raptors Let Triano Go as Head Coach

SPORTS Word coming from the Raptors this evening that head coach Jay Triano’s contract will not be renewed next season, bringing his two-and-a-half-year tenure as leader of the team to an end. Triano’s relationship with the Raptors won’t come to a complete close, though; he is being “retained as a consultant to the basketball team as a special assistant to the president and general manager,” according to the team’s statement today. Triano is the first Canadian-born coach in the NBA; he leaves the team with an 87–142 record. Triano’s replacement has not yet been selected.
