    The case was already made here that the Nader 2000 vote is not analogous or synonymous to this election for a few key reasons.
    That it might feel the same doesn’t make it the same.

    I think you overstate the influence of the ‘Nader Trader’ strategy in your case. As examples of “the spoiler effect”, it’s a fair comparison.

    It was quantitatively difficult to ascertain at the time to what extent the tactic altered final outcomes, shy of a list provided by the web site, which was told by the Federal Elections Commission to cease and desist days before the election.
    But it was what it was: Gore, as much better as he would have been for the U.S., was a rotten campaigner that year and ineffectively sold himself the way I feel Pantalone is ineffectively selling himself.

    I keep hoping Pantalone’s numbers will shoot through the roof soon, until election day he’s the one I’m supporting since I think he’d be the best mayor, however if his numbers haven’t moved enough by then I’ll be holding my nose and voting Smitherman as the lesser evil than Ford. The thing is I’m gay and would love to see a gay mayor but that’s not enough for me to support Smitherman outright, I don’t quite trust him and he has shifted too far right for me chasing some of Ford’s voters but I think Ford would be an utter disaster as mayor and if Smitherman has a chance of beating him then I don’t think I have much of a choice, but until election day I’m officially supporting Pantalone in the hope his numbers bounce a little higher and he becomes a more credible challenger to Ford.
