Googly Eyes Can See You

Some people see faces in everything. And some, like Emma Flannery Lawrence Healey and Richard Rosenbaum, make their own.
Last Thursday, the pair spent three hours stalking along Queen West from University Avenue to Crawford Street, converting a sea of inanimate objects—fire hydrants, Toronto Star boxes, crosswalk signal triggers—into faces with googly eyes purchased from the Bloor and Bathurst Midoco. This won’t be the end, either; they’re planning to do another run soon. Photos above.

@Gauldar: I don’t know, I think the 4th and 5th have definite merit. I admire the open, genial expression that only a park bench could have… and how could you not love the somber, Babe-the-Blue-Ox countenance of a Toronto Star dispenser?

this is great! i’m going to steal ^H^H^H^H mimic this idea for sure. queen west need not be the only strip in toronto under observation…

Yeah, the Toronto Star newsbox does have a subtle “pensive” feel to it, wanting more connection with the people around him rather then to just have a coin dropped in an a paper taken out. All he wants was a nice chat with someone. I’m sure he would provide alot more thoughtful conversation then that provided in his products.

I shall find you, Toronto Star newsbox, and lift your heavy (metal) heart.
