    That was back when there were real people at CFRB. Gordon Sinclair, Pierre Berton, Betty Kennedy, Wally Crouter, Bill Deegan.
    CFRB’s news mattered and it was the most highly listened to of all the local stations, even after the death of Jack Dennett.
    CFRB mattered because it broadcast programming worth listening to including the two-hour classical pops every night sponsored by the Toronto Star.
    With time and with the deaths of the individuals mentioned above, CFRB passed into a different ownership and what was once the most prestigious station in Toronto if not Ontario sank into a morass of right-wing talk show hosts often parroting the talking points of their US peers.
    They sank so low, they repeated daytime programming in the overnight. Perhaps they were having a talent shortage.
    The website http://www.bbm.ca has the latest results of radio ratings and CFRB is nowhere near the top stations in reach or in listenership.
    *sigh* The good ol’ days.

    A quick google search found a Loring from Seneca still in journalism. Not much luck with the others. A nice afternoon break from work though.

    Elaine Loring went on to be an entertainment reporter for Global in the 80s and 90s. I think she originally did Global’s “Entertainment Desk” spots later taken over by Bob McAdorey.

    Don’t remember Elaine Loring but the picture makes her look like she was already about 50 in 1975.
