Paul Has A Speaking Engagement

2008_03_10_PaulGoesFishing.jpg

Popular Québécois cartoonist Michel Rabagliati will be making an appearance at the Lillian H. Smith Library (239 College Street) on March 15 at 5:00 p.m. to promote his latest book, Paul Goes Fishing. Rabagliati will participate in a Q&A session with The Beguiling’s Peter Birkemoe and sign books for loyal fans of the Paul series. And it's free!

Who is Paul? It is Michel himself, with a smattering of fiction here and there ("5 to 10 percent," he told The Star). We first met him in full-length format when he was a bestubbled camp counsellor in Paul Has a Summer Job. Next, he was introduced to the world of graphic design, and his wife Lucie, in Paul Moves Out. In Paul Goes Fishing, Paul is ready to start a family, but he and Lucie are struggling to conceive a child.

Rabagliati has a true gift for crafting subtle stories that are heartwarming, and often heartbreaking. Just try to make it through a volume without at least a small tear.
