Less Than Jake Mounts A Comeback In T.O.

Is 1996 retro yet?
Probably not, but that doesn’t mean Toronto isn’t way overdue for some good, old-fashioned ska-punk sounds courtesy of Less Than Jake, who are playing a free show this Saturday (January 19) at 8:00 p.m. at The Sound Academy (aka. The Docks). They make us all nostalgic for the old days…you know, hanging out in dirty parking lots with skateboards and big puffy shoes, dreaming about when your first chair trombone skills would land you that gig playing back up for a way cool ska band in SoCal.
So what ever happened to those guys? Well, Less Than Jake are currently in the process of writing and recording their ninth studio album and are set to re-release Goodbye Blue And White, Pezcore, Losers, Kings And Things We Don’t Understand, as well as a DVD in the spring. Just in time to make it onto your mid-90′s suburban anthems summer playlist!

    Umm, I was obviously referring to third-wave ska!

    And I know they’ve been playing Warped Tour for years, but I was mostly referring to the fact that many people I know from the suburbs grew up listening to music like that and promptly abandoned it when they moved to the city.
    But indie rock is getting stale and I’ve been waiting to form a feminist ska band for about a decade now, so…yeah. Anyone know how to play surf guitar?

    My high school nostalgia bone is tingling. Less Than Jake was one of the first punk/ska bands that I got into back in high school.
    I wonder if Mustard Plug is opening?
