You! Me! Dancing! (and Skating, too!)

2007_12_10Harbourfront1.jpg
According to Environment Canada, this winter will be the coldest in fifteen years. That news should send us all running for the comforts of indoors, but once again Harbourfront Centre provides the perfect reason to play outside. DJ Skating Nights return for a third year, providing those who brave the cold to skate under the glittering skyline with a soundtrack from local DJs. The five Friday nights of the series will feature five different genres. Exclaim! will rock indie and punk on December 14; Promise DJs will play disco and house on January 11; Nocturnal Magazine will cover techno and house on January 25; CKLN Radio 88.1 will spin funk and soul on February 8; and Earwaks will close out the season with an evening of hip hop on February 29.
The Natrel Rink—located at 235 Queens Quay West—provides skate rentals, sharpening, change rooms and locker services. DJ Skating Nights are all ages events, free of charge, and run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Harbourfront has the best (artificial) rink in the city. I’ve never been down for the DJ nights, but I imagine that they would conjure up memories of too many Saturday afternoons at The Terrace.
