PhotoTO: Lightsabers!

Photo by End User from the Torontoist Flickr Pool
Last night, under the futuristic angles of the Royal Ontario Museum Crystal, over 2000 people gathered to do battle with glowing cardboard tubes in an epic lightsaber battle organized by Newmindspace. The evening was a huge success, attracting hundreds of curious, incredulous or plain baffled onlookers.

man that building is cool looking.
as for the mass gathering thing, i dunno, might have been fun at 18.
Heard from a friend that the event turned out to be pretty lame.
I wonder how many minutes that lasted before people started getting bored.
chickvandoole - come next year, tasers on stun are provided to the masses
The people in costume were my favourite part. Especially the Klingon :)
The Newmindspace events are put on by young people, mostly for young people. This might not be fun to a fuddy-duddy old person like yourself Matty, but it's not aimed at you anyway, so why deride it?
At least Kevin and Lori are doing something different and fun - what have you done lately to make Toronto more interesting?
this event was such garbage.
those kids were just hacking one another to bits, which as everyone knows is NOT how you use a lightsaber.
sad.
to be honest, the only good newmindspace event i ever went to was radical illumination last year. the rest are filled with far too drunk/high teenagers for my taste.
and to fantasygoat, teenagers who are stoned out of their minds don't actually do anything to make toronto more interesting.
