Musicologist: November 5–11

This week, our must-see show is Ani DiFranco at Music Hall Theatre. Having seen her in concert multiple times, Musicologist can vouch for the fact that the Righteous Babe is an amazing live musician. There seems to be some stigma about liking Ani, but don't fall victim to that or you'll be missing out.

If you're looking for something free, Ottawa's Melissa Laveaux plays Hart House's Arbor Room on Friday. Her acoustic-jazz guitar work and captivating voice are a good consolation prize for Ani fans who can't afford her show's hefty price tag.

Also that night, Ohbijou headlines a fantastic show that also includes Bruce Peninsula, Basia Bulat and Bocce.

If uber-catchy pop tunes with substance are your thing, we recommend Two Hours Traffic at the Horseshoe on Thursday. It's only 8 bucks, their choruses will get stuck in your head for days and they have an adorable guitarist—what more could you ask for?

Screw stigmas...Ani is cool, very talented, and has her own record label.
Cool photo of her, BTW.

I'm quite sad that Caribou is sold out.

You spelled "The Weakerthans" incorrectly.

Ani = amazing. Too bad I can't make the concerts. She's one of my favourites.

I also wish she was cheaper. I'm po'.
