As we all know, the CN Tower has officially been surpassed as the world’s tallest free-standing structure—a title it held for thirty years. Silly as it may be, that title gave us a lot of pride. Of course, we still don’t really understand what’s inside the tower, and obviously we’re too cheap to actually pay to go up to 360 and make use of the (we hear) incredible view, but it just made us feel good. And it was a useful piece of trivia for impressing Americans. So we’re feeling a little down.
In completely unrelated news, the loonie is soaring; to be exact, it’s hit a thirty… year… high.
Wait a second. We’re not exactly superstitious, but it sort of feels like the universe is trying to tell us something. It’s like that Seinfeld episode where Jerry always breaks even. You know, he loses one gig and then books another, Elaine throws his twenty bucks out the window and he finds a twenty in his jacket… Of course, the status of the loonie is no replacement for our beloved free-standing structure record, but we lost one 30-year record and gained another, and we’ll take what we can get.
As George would say, we’re back in business, baby!
