Lucky Number Thirteen

2007_01_11rawlings2.jpgOne of Toronto’s newest literary series, Toronto Wordstage (which is run by Allan Briesmaster, John Calabro, Beatriz Hausner, and Lucianno Iacobelli) celebrates its 13th edition this evening with a stellar line-up of writers.
Tonight’s event will feature novelist and playwright Michael Wex (Born to Kvetch: Yiddish Language and Culture in All Its Moods); poet Rafi Aaron (Surviving the Censor: The Unspoken Words of Osip Mandelstam); Sonia D’Agostino; and poet a. rawlings (pictured, and author of Wide slumber for lepidopterists).
Toronto Wordstage takes place at Cervejaria – 842 College, just west of Ossington. The doors open at 7 and readings begin at 7:30 p.m. It’s free, but donations will be accepted.

I love listening to Michael Wex speak because he sounds like Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man. Kinda has that Long Island lilting drawwwl even though he was born in Lethbridge. He sounds like he’s kvetching even when he’s not. Time for Wapner, time for Wapner…
