Hackers, Leave Our Bands Alone

2006_12_14magneta.jpgChart Attack and CBC Radio 3 reported that hackers have gotten in and deleted the MySpace account of local indie rockers Magneta Lane.
The popular band lost over two years worth of fan comments and 7,000 friends.
The ladies are getting back on their feet though. As of the writing of this post Magneta Lane has a functional page again, with videos and music and 372 friends.
As for those alleged Turkish hackers that did this, we hear the Vatican and/or the U.S. government has a few nice sites that probably deserve some hacking. But geez, leave the poor musicians alone.

Wired News has a report today on the phishing attack scam, and reveals that MySpace passwords are actually better than expected; certainly better than the usual instantly guessable password employed by people in your office.
The true crime on MySpace, however, is the alarming use of animated GIFs, ridiculous backgrounds, and aNnOyInG tEeEn GiRl text.

Rupert can’t just load an account backup file or something? There’s no reason they should have to start all over. I don’t think I’ll be shedding a tear for a deleted MySpace page anytime soon.

This is almost as devastating as the Sassafraz fire.

    right…..’hackers’……ofcourse!
anyhow, its just a myspace page, hardly catastrophic. Slow news day?

    They lost 7000 friends?!?
I lost a friend to cancer and I still miss her every day. It’s hard to imaging losing 7000 at once.
