A Trash Bin Quandary
Torontoist searched the blogosphere and figured out that people were in love with Nuit Blanche. "This is kind of like Halloween for Adults," Under Sky Blue Sea overheard. We think it might be because he, like so many others, was walking around in the fog installation over by Philosopher's Walk.
Sarah B. Hood's verdict is that Fujiko Nakaya's Fog was one of the two best installations that night. Photographer Ashley Hutcheson also took some eerie photos of the fog.
According to Hood the other big hit of Nuit Blanche was Darren O'Donnell's "ballroom." Squiddity and Torontoist agree with this.
Just outside of the ballroom, in Grange Park, Zoilus spends some time at Adrian Blackwell's ampitheatre/sculpture "Model For A Public Space (Speaker)." Despite the rain and muck, audiences were enraptured by the experimental music played there. Although there were some hitches.
100 stories points out that the Hot Dog vendor outside of the ROM must've made a killing. Over at Just Keep Bloggin' is a rundown of the installations around Yorkville (zone A). Photoblogger Mute got to spend some time on top of the CN Tower.
Finally, one Chris_M, seemed to be too busy checking out girls during Nuit Blanche. "Oh, and also, art chicks are sooooooo cute! Like whoa," he writes. For once, Chris we wouldn't know - we were too busy looking at the art.

Pharma©opia was definitely pretty awesome, too.
But easily the biggest disappointment of the night was the "Hold That Thought" church at Bloor & Avenue Rd.
You think there's going to be something awesome inside, like an exorcism. Turns out it was just a church. Yawn.

I heard that around 450,000 people came out for Nuit Blance. I haven't found a single non-blog article on the event. Maybe it's a secret and we're to only tell the cool kids next year.
I read an article in the Star today ... obviously Nuit Blanche ran on too long for papers to make the deadline for the next day's paper.
Not so sure about the "too cool" factor. There were lot's of oldies and families out. Some kid kicked me in the shins at 4 am in the ball room.
True about the too late for press thing and certainly not timely enough for the Monday paper. ie. yesterday's news.
I really liked that there were old people out. I was at Roy & Silo's Gay Divorce after midnight and a really old couple were laughing their asses off and loving it while we walked around.

Nuit Blanche was awesome.. although, I am still exhausted today! I need to catch up on some sleep tonight!!
I have been looking forward to this event since it was announced. I had read about the Paris Nuit Blanche in 2002 and I was like "Toronto needs that". Well, 4 years later, and pretty good for the first time around!
It was definitely a great event to showcase some of the art exhibits - I liked the Babel university concept in ROM (some pictures).
