Honey, Could You Pick Up Some Milk and a Pair of Herringbone Pointed Flats on the Way Home?

2006_08_30Vanessa.jpgWhen I was thirteen, I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Halifax. In the maritimes nine years ago, the Atlantic Superstores were way bigger than anything in Toronto, and they sold clothes! Needless to say, I was impressed – that is, until I tried on several pairs of ill-fitting pants and realized that Superstore clothes sucked.
But my, how things have changed! Joseph Mimran, “the man synonymous with Canadian fashion,” has launched a new line of clothes for the Superstore: Joe Fresh Style. Now when you go to pick up that frozen lasagna, you can also get a really cute blouse, a zip hoodie, or a fur-ocious tote (that’s the official name). You may also find shoes, blazers, leggings, belts and berets. There are lots of browns, grays and turquoises in the fall collection, and the most expensive pieces max out at $49.
The website will tell you that the collection is only available at the Weston Road Superstore and the Dufferin and Steeles Superstore, but I have a secret for you: it’s also available at the Don Mills and Eglinton Superstore! That’s just a hop, skip and bus ride from Eglinton Station, and kitty corner from the Ontario Science Centre (if you’re all the way out there, you may as well do some interactive learning).

Are you serious? Stupid store locator. Thanks!

Jeez guys, all of a sudden we forget Maxi and Maxi Co. that lasted about 18 months near the CTV studios in Scarborough before they were bought out by Loblaw Co.
There is no doubt in my mind that it was the best place to go grocery shopping. They had cosmetics, clothes, electronics, food; everything, and the quality wasn’t lacking too.
The store was huge, and since the Loblaws buy out, the building was divided into two separate stores; a larger-than-average No Frills and a National Sports.
Loblaws used to have SuperCentres in Toronto (one was at the intersection of Brimley and Kennedy, another at Golden Mile Plaza on Eglington and Vic Park, they have since been converted into No Frillses after the properties lay dormant for 1 or 2 years); same idea as a SuperStore, but for some reason, they pulled out. Now they want back in, after seeing the success Maxi had.
Maybe people just don’t want to shop at Loblaws anymore.

The best thing about the Joe clothes is that the sizes are meant to flatter — let’s just say I haven’t worn a size 8 since junior high.
I’ve been wearing a pair of their jeans since the winter and they’re holding up nicely. I’m a little bit nerdy about my love for Joe Fresh.
I just wish you could get it at a Loblaw’s closer to downtown.

Why go to the trouble of building an entire site that shows your entire collection and skip the part where you offer said collection for online purchase? Dumb.

well first off to Nik B. the reason why Loblaws is building superstores is because of Wal-mart, however there still will be Loblaws,No Frills,Fortinos,Valu-mart, etc. around, Loblaws builds there stores on alot of area research, demographics, take a trip to the weston road/401 store, then take a trip to the one at dufferin and steeles, then draw a conclusion, stores cater to the area, then take a map, and mark where there are Loblaws, NO frills, fortinos, and superstores in Toronto., then mark where there are wal-marts, and by the way for a company that made close to 28 billion dollar in sales last year, sure shows alot of people don’t wanna shop at Loblaws anymore huh. and to the perosn who wish they sell there JOe Fresh clothes downtown, its going in the former caban site at Bathurst and St.clair soon.
