Adam Vaughan Gets In the Ring

Adam Vaughan has put down his camera and picked up his political boxing gloves. He filed his nomination papers and is now an official candidate in Trinity-Spadina, the ward vacated by Olivia Chow when she was elected to Parliament earlier in the year. Long-time community activist Tam Goosens and former Olivia Chow assistant Helen Kennedy are also slated to run in the ward.
Media outlets are drooling over the fact that one of their own is entering into a hotly contested race. Eye’s coverage is here. The Star gives us a stub of an article but Vaughan does go on at length with Andy Barrie on Metro Morning.
And unlike other journalists who’ve recently entered politics Vaughan willl be running as an independent. Torontoist is liking the things we’re hearing from Vaughan’s campaign. His fundraising statement is principled (no money from developers, unions or corporations) and its transparency is something that other candidates would do well to emulate.
We’ve also noticed that as an independent Vaughan has stayed away from all the party colours and chose a black and yellow motif for his site. The end effect though is that his site feels like it was created by someone over at CityTV.

Is it just me, or does Adam Vaughn look a hell of a lot like Chris Sabo?
