We here at Torontoist support live independent music wherever and whenever it’s being played (well almost). We feel incredibly blessed to live in a city with so many cheap and bookable live venues and great bands to fill those said venues. So when we heard that the poor kids in Brantford might be losing the Ford Plant, one of that town’s better spaces, we were a bit dismayed.
In a bit of scene solidarity a couple of Toronto musicians decided to hold a fundraiser for the Ford Plant at the Boat tommorow night. So far the lineup include the Guest Bedroom, The Miles, the Secret Handshake and Henri Faberge and the Adorables (who we sheepishly admit we’ve mentioned on this blog far too many times). Five bucks sends a little love down to Brantford.
Over at the Trinity Bellwoods Community Centre (near Crawford and Queen) something a little more aquatic. A pool party. Yes, you heard that right. A pool party. Electro-dance purveyors Woodhands (pictured here) and Minus Smile will be encouraging swimming and dancing from 10pm to midnight, $5. Don’t worry about the rain kiddies, this very chlorinated concert is indoors.
