Good Riddance Vince Carter!

2004_12_17carterThere’s cause for celebration tonight: As you read this, the NBA is approving a proposed trade between the Toronto Raptors and the New Jersey Nets that would see the Vince Carter in a different uniform. A Raptor team that has struggled on and off the court this year is having it’s biggest tumor removed as General Manager Rob Babcock worked out a deal that will finally send Vinsanity packing.
Raptor fans have consoled themselves with the belief that this day would finally come after witnessing a dismal start to the season. The trade comes on the heels of a monstrous victory as the team punished the Minnesota Timberwolves at the ACC this past Wednesday night.
In return for Vince, the Nets will be saying their goodbyes to centre Alonzo Mourning, forward Aaron Williams, guard Eric Williams and a pair of first round picks.
The new faces will drastically improve the teams defensive game that has been struggling to contain the league’s top scorers as of late.
And to Vince, Torontoist would like to wish you the worst of luck. You couldn’t bust a grape in a fruit fight. We’re sure you’ll look terrific on the Nets’ sideline. Thanks for nothing!

Adam Proteau is out of his element with that article.
Vince is a lowlife at best.. Despite what he put into the community, the one thing he neglected was his true responsibility.. vince is paid to perform… he can’t elevate above a game that is his lifeline. he’s paid 14 million a year to play basketball. he’s not in the position to make any decisions. he let down the raptors, our city and the nba.
If Vince spent $150,000 to pay for a neigbourhood park, it was with money he robbed from a franchise and its fans while he sat on the sideline crying wolf (or injury).
    Class Act all the way!

Vince Carter is the biggest BITCH that I’ve ever seen in the NBA.
Having his name associated with OUR city can only be paralleled to the SARS epidemic.
We have no room for pretty boys.
I’m holding out for IVERSON *swoon*, we need a good badass on a team based upon a popular movie of the 90′s. Guh.

I have to say, folks in NJ are pretty excited to have Vince Carter in the Nets, even if he’s a huge injured bitch. He brings the kind of excitement the franchise needs, since the bitch of an owner, Bruce Ratner, announced the move to Brooklyn.
That said, I’m sorry to see Aaron Williams go – he’s great – and Eric Williams was just getting better…

You all wish! Vince will show all you haters! Stupid ungrateful fans. Toronto basketball wouldn’t even have survived today if not for Vince

  • True Player

    Carlo.
Get one thing straight… Toronto basketball would have survived on Alvin Robertson and Zan Tabak. Whether or not the ACC is full, the lower bowl tickets and luxury boxes are paid for nonetheless. This is a corporate city with corporate seating.
I doubt the fans outside Toronto, New York, Miami, Chicago or Los Angeles would be caught dead paying $100+ to see an injured Vince.. 500$ courtside.
Possibly 6$ in foodstamps and half a meatball sub.

i agree with adam proteau. vince brought toronto the slam dunk championship and almost the nba finals if it weren’t for iverson and the 71′ers. vince rules. if toronto raptors brass had the you-know-whats, they would’ve signed the core and kept the team around vince. if they did that, they could have been contenders. instead they just wanted vince to slam dunk every once and a while while keeping the merchandise sales up. grow a pair and sign some players, don’t just wait for the next damon stoudamire/vince carter/chris bosh. what the hell is signing guys like hakeem do if they can’t contribute to a championship run? money! the team wants to be the next charlotte hornets – flashy players that sell products but don’t win anything. sure that makes bling, but it also makes the adorable sports writer angry. well, adrian, be angry at the team, not the star player.

  • mike gelineau

i loved vince in the beginning.but he ruined the team in the end by not trying and not playing through small injuries.he’s at best a mediocre player. big deal,he won the slam dunk.thats all i’ll remember him for.
he’ll be out for the season in a few weeks in new jersey with another sore ankle, thumb,or a headache.

I just wanted to say Vince Carter was the best thing that happened to the Toronto Raptors since Isiah Thomas was running the joint. Vince put Toronto on the map for NBA basketball. It’s just too bad that a toddler can fall down without crying but that little bitch couldn’t. Each year I was praying Vince would toughen up and take a hit, and only once did he take us far into the playoffs. Basically, I’m saying too bad you’re a bitch, Vince Carter. I want you to go to hell, but NJ will do for now.

Honestly, I have read Toronto newspapers (I’m from L.A.) and it is clear that the sports media is ignorant as to basketball. It is tantamount to the “hockey media” up here. Go Raptors! You got your Red Rocket to save you now, the guy doesn’t even belong in the NBA, but he walks to work right. Here’s hoping Morris Petersen remembers that you are allowed to take 2-pt shots and not to give out herpes. Araujo, well, maybe they should do more scouting in Utah after this gem. This organization is horrible and Vince (while maybe not the max player) was the scapegoat for everything wrong. Now that he has talent (even if it is only 3 talented players) and real management around him, it is not surprising that he has thrived. Hold your head up high Toronto, it’s only a matter of time before Steve Nash comes riding in on a white horse (sarcasm)…maybe Zan Tabak. Within two years, the Raptors will have enough white guys to make a hockey team…The Nets will be contending in the East next year, and they WILL make the playoffs this year. One last note, good luck trading Jalen Rose, the least Babcock could have done was traded him with Vince, but he needed that 11 mpg toughness/hockey player mentality that Eric Williams offers…A for the Raps.

  • fuck_you_vince_carter_haters

fuck you, all of you you sick ex-fans of vince, you’re all dumb bitches, vince has been terrific but it was the team that has the problem you ignorant fools…last thing to say we support you vince we don’t care what team you are playing we’re with you all the way..hope you’ll win the championship…fuck you vc haters!!! hehe burn in hell not vince!!

  • VC 4life

Vince Carter is the greatest player. He develops an outside jumper and doesn’t dunk anymore. He usually shoots and he can. All you fucking hating faggots mad cuz nets are 3rd in Eastern confrence while Toronto sucks fat cock mother fuckers.

  • vince15

ALL of you are haters the raptors are nothing without him, they lick balls they had a chance to keep him if they would listen to his input but those dumb bitches didnt so he left its not his fault that hes surrounded by bunch of goofs like mo pete jackass cant even play. THEY GOT HOODWINKED
