If you equate the term “body horror” with bikini shopping, first of all—we don’t blame you, and we also know of an eye-opening lecture you should probably attend. Join Kevin Chabot, a PhD student in Cinema Studies, as he presents Bodies Without Borders: Body Horror as Political Resistance at the Black Museum. Using films from the ’30s and ’40s such as Cat People, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Freaks, Chabot will discuss the ways in which onscreen mutation challenges societal norms, and how audiences relate to it.
