Owen Ashworth certainly doesn’t have the market cornered on slo-lo-fi electronica, but for more than a decade, his Casiotone for the Painfully Alone project was a prime example of indie music you’d want to ruminate on—and maybe gently toe-tap to. Ashworth retired CFTPA in 2010, and his new solo project, Advance Base, features an expanded palette—though it’s not going to be mistaken for thrash-rock. Local promoters The Indie Machine have bookended Advance Base’s set with Toronto acts Our Founders and Omhouse, plus Daniel Benjamin of Moon King, who will close the night out with a DJ set.
