There's definitely good in this street art

FIELD NOTES: | As always, due to the anonymity of street artists, one can only speculate on the meaning behind pieces. This artist seems to be drawing a connection between corporate business folks and the Empire in Star Wars—an evil force of totalitarian jerks trying to dominate the universe. The critique of consumer culture is a prevalent theme among graffiti art but is that truly the case with this paste-up? It could just as well be someone eagerly anticipating Halloween—the one holiday where everyone is encouraged to let loose and dress up in costumes! We’re as down with counter-culture as it gets but, at the end of the day, our love of Halloween wins! Happy Halloween from Vandalist! |
