Do you hate comma splices? Do you love clear and concise copy? Then you should consider joining the Torontoist copy editing team.
Copy editors are core members of the Torontoist team who review each article before publication. They send out tweets and Facebook posts, and clarify the intended meaning of words and phrases with our contributors.
The position is ideal for someone who is already at his or her desk, and has time to jump into six articles or so throughout the day from early morning to 4 p.m. two days a week.
We offer a modest daily stipend for the role. Copy editors are also encouraged to pitch and develop articles for the site.
Previous Torontoist copy editors now work at various magazines, newspapers, and publishers across the country.
If you’re interested in the role, please copy edit this article (including the headline and dek and so on) from our archives using track changes so we can see how you altered it. We’ve introduced some errors that need attention, so watch out for those. Please use CP style.
Please email your edited article as an attachment to editors at torontoist dot com, and include a brief note as to why you’d like to be part of the team. The deadline is Sunday, July 10 at 11 p.m.
