Spotted: Black Lives Matter Toronto’s Tent City

Organization protests anti-Black racism in the city.

WHAT: Black Lives Matter Toronto pitched a tent city, set to remain all night at Nathan Phillips Square, in protest against anti-Black racism in Toronto. The protest comes on the heels of the city’s Special Investigations Unit decision not to charge the police officer involved in the fatal shooting of Andrew Loku last July. “We are tired of being the victim and the suspect,” Pascale Diverlus, co-founder of BLM Toronto, said of the protest in a statement.
