Nominated for: misogynistic douchebaggery and being one of the most misleading Google searches on the face of the planet.

On Monday, May 11, a Toronto FC fan shouted the expletive, “FUCK HER RIGHT IN THE PUSSY” to CityNews reporter Shauna Hunt during a newscast taping before disappearing into a crowd. His friend Shawn Simoes and another male stayed behind to address the reporter to defend and celebrate his actions. The following day, Simoes was terminated from his job at Hydro One.
The infamous FHRITP “phenomenon” is based off of a U.S. news broadcast that was later revealed to be a hoax. It is tragically defined by Urban Dictionary as “possibly the most revolutionary and iconic phrase of the twenty-first century.” It seems as if the esteemed Urban Dictionary user THEPRODIGY:FRED may have mixed up “revolutionary and iconic” with “downright stupid,” or “twenty-first century” with “never.”
Hydro One responded to the incident like many would expect: it fired Simoes.
Though Simoes had not been the one to yell the offensive phrase at Hunt, his eager defence of the remark (“It’s fucking awesome! You’re lucky there’s not a fucking vibrator in your ear!”) has the rest of us wondering why a grown man is so amused at an elementary school description of heterosexual sex.
Several social media posts identified the second individual as a Cognex Corporation employee. Sarah Laskowski, a spokesperson for the company, said in a statement, “We cannot comment on employee matters publicly, but we take this issue seriously and will be addressing it.”
There is a larger issue to address. Shawn Simoes and his dudebros feel both the right and need need to assert their white, male dominance over someone doing their job, who simply made the apparent mistake of being born female. While many would argue that Toronto is a happily liberal, friendly, and accepting city, the FHRITP dudebros remind us that if we accept the notion that boys will be boys, mindless villainy is always within earshot, and that’s a crappy feeling.
