Post-Nuit Blanche, there's actually still some Nuit Blanche to see downtown. Check it out if you want. Also in the news: an NDP platform focused on big cities and a private members' bill to make both members of a same-sex couple parents of their children.

You thought Nuit Blanche was over, didn’t you? Well, while it’s true that the night itself has come and gone (perhaps mercifully, if you live in the art zone and don’t care for all-night revelry), several exhibits are still up and available for your (potentially) sober examination. They’re largely, though not all, clustered around City Hall, and up throughout most of October.
The federal NDP has released a Toronto-targeted platform that mostly reaffirms its strategies for things like infrastructure funding and banning jets at Billy Bishop Airport. It’s part of a push for urban voters in the final two and a half weeks as the party slips into third place in the polls.
NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo, who represents the riding of Parkdale-High Park in the Ontario legislature, plans to introduce a private members’ bill that would “make birth registration services available to all LGBTQ families,” according to the CBC. In Ontario, it is assumed that the parents of a child will be a man and woman, leaving same-sex couples in a situation where only one parent is immediately considered a baby’s legal guardian. Premier Kathleen Wynne has said the Liberal party will consider supporting DiNovo’s bill.
