In the news: Rob Ford revealed to have new tumour, an archaeological dig unearths a "military artifact," and Uber delivers kittens, but only for today.

A statement from Rob Ford’s executive assistant revealed the former mayor has a new tumour on his bladder. The statement, released yesterday by aide Dan Jacobs, said, “It’s now been confirmed that there is a new tumour growing on his bladder. At this time, we are still awaiting testing results to determine if it is related to the previous growths, as well as whether it is malignant.” Ford was diagnosed with pleomorphic liposarcoma, an aggressive and rare type of cancer, in September 2014. A tweet from the Toronto city councillor thanked his followers for their support.

A section of the downtown core was shut down yesterday morning with the discovery of a military artifact near City Hall. Construction crews at Chestnut and Armoury Street unearthed what is believed to be a military shell dating back to WWI or WWII. Toronto’s chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defence (CBRND) team was called to the site as a precaution. The surrounding area was reopened to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic later that day.

If you’re in need of a four-legged friend to beat the office blues, you’re now in luck. For today only, Uber will deliver a furry feline for a 15 minute play session to anyone who requests one between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Proceeds from the kitten chauffeur service, sold at $15 a pop, will help support Team Cat Rescue, Just Paws Cat Rescue, Annex Cat Rescue, and the Etobicoke Humane Society. All cats delivered through the Uber app will be available for adoption.
