Farewell to the long weekend, hello to the short week! In the news: Mohamed Fahmy returns to Toronto, the Jays force Game 5, and a stabbing outside a Tim Hortons.

Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy has returned home following a near two-year ordeal in an Egyptian jail cell. The former Al Jazeera journalist, who was arrested with two colleagues by Egyptian forces in 2013 and released from prison last month, returned to Toronto on Sunday. Yesterday he tweeted, “Happy Thanksgiving Canada! Walking the streets of Toronto with my wife is truly a liberating feeling! We feel safe, free, & at home! #Love.” Fahmy is expected to attend a press conference at Ryerson University hosted by the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression later today, and has been invited to meet with Liberal leader Justin Trudeau and NDP leader Tom Mulcair later this week.
The Jays have forced a deciding Game Five in the American League Division Series with their 8-4 victory over the Texas Rangers yesterday evening. The winner of Wednesday afternoon’s game (4:00 p.m. start time) will then face either the Houston Astros or the Kansas City Royals for the American League title.
A 26-year-old man is in stable condition following a stabbing at a Tim Hortons parking lot Sunday evening. The man, who was at Shoppers World Mall near Highway 10 and Steeles, was taken to a local hospital and trauma centre after being stabbed multiple times. Police are seeking three suspects in the incident.
