Sound Advice: Alessia Cara, Wordburglar, Keita Juma

New offerings from a pop-R&B soulstress, multitalented producer and rhymespitter, and Toronto's favourite rapper-slash-comic book artist.

#ICYMI, a roundup of noteworthy musical happenings in the city some call The 6.

Alessia Cara (1)
Alessia Cara’s feeling fine: Hailing from Brampton, singer-songwriter Alessia Cara earned global buzz with her outside anthem “Here” and the recently-released Four Pink Walls EP is a delicious slice of pop-R&B. At a mere four tracks, the minimalistic EP whets appetites for the inevitable full-length release.

wordburglar
Wordburglar got rhymes: Sean Jordan Volpe, better known by the stage name Wordburglar, has been busy lately with a litany of projects. He did, however, find the time to create a comic book, along with releasing new project Rapplicable Skills, which offers up his trademark lyrical wordplay and pop culture inferences.

Keita Juma
Keith Juma brings the grime: Whether’s he’s producing or rapping, Keita Juma is on point. New track Grill$ hits with urgency and represents a cool slice of underground hip-hop.
