In the news: the Trump Tower antenna is actually safe, a new library, and a new (unwanted) fish species in town.

In spite of the fact that it was wavering high above the financial district, the antenna atop Trump Tower has been deemed safe. Police said it is “no safety risk whatsoever” to the people below. Trump Tower is named for the hotelier, real estate magnate, reality TV personality, and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Elwin Murphy and Al, two men living under the Simcoe underpass, have begun the city’s newest library, with two collections: The Free Underpass Library is Al’s, while Murphy’s (because he stays on the east side of the underpass) is called the East Side Simcoe Library. Murphy’s collection boasts around 20 books, with Al’s about double that size. Murphy said reading offers both an escape from the world and a way to connect with others not living on he street.
Three more Asian carp have been found in and around Toronto, bringing the total spotted in the area to five. Of the most recent, two on Tuesday and one on Monday. Asian carp are an invasive species that often deplete other, local fish populations by feeding extensively on aquatic vegetation.
