In the news this fine Monday: a man says he was beaten outside last year's OVO Fest afterparty, a car was found in the bottom of a pit, and one man's swim across Lake Ontario.

This year’s fatal shooting related to the OVO Fest afterparty wasn’t the first time violence has been associated with the party (though it was a few orders of magnitude more serious): autograph seeker Pedro Sacadura claims he was beaten outside Muzik nightclub during last year’s afterparty. Sacadura has filed a lawsuit against Muzik Club, Hypnotic Clubs Ltd., Drake, and five of Drake’s associates whose names aren’t public in relation to this lawsuit. Sacadura claims he was beaten outside the club and that he has video of the assault.
A car was discovered at the bottom of a 20-foot construction pit early Sunday morning. No one was inside, and neither the driver nor passengers (if there were any) have been found, leaving police uncertain if they were still in the car during the accident that left it in the pit.
Michael McIsaac, a Toronto lawyer, has swum across Lake Ontario to raise money for fighting melanoma. McIsaac did the swim in part to honour his friend Douglas, who died of the disease at 29. He’s raised more than $76,000 out of his goal of $100,000. His swim was 51 kilometres in length, from Niagara-On-The-Lake to Toronto. McIsaac trained for 11 months for the feat.
