In the news: another rooming house fire in Kensington, SkyGreece passengers find themselves stranded, and a G20 police charge prompts an apology.

This morning, a two-alarm fire in a Kensington Market rowhouse had dwellers jumping from a second story window to escape the flames. The building affected appears to be a rooming house, calling to mind a fatal neighbourhood blaze in 2014 that saw the building’s owners charged with a series of fire code violations. Thankfully, no one in this morning’s fire was seriously hurt.

Torontonians trying to get to and from Greece on the airline SkyGreece might be out of luck. The airline grounded three flights to and from the troubled Mediterranean destination yesterday, leaving its passengers stranded and scrambling for alternate transport. The company appear to have deleted both its Twitter and Facebook accounts as of yesterday, fuelling rumours that they’re not long for this world.

Police Supt. David (Mark) Fenton “deeply regrets some that some of [his] decisions led to the arrest of people who were not involved in the violence and that some people were held in the rain for hours” during the 2010 G20 protests.” Fenton was found guilty of misconduct in relation to those events at a police tribunal on Monday; so far, he is the only upper command officer being charged under the province’s Police Act for G20-related actions.
