Happy Friday! We've made it to the weekend, finally. In the news today: a man was arrested after impersonating a monk and aggressively soliciting donations, and people in the city have feelings about Uber.

Although the headlines are implying a man has been charged for impersonating a monk, the Toronto man who was arrested near the CN tower on Wednesday was actually arrested for allegedly aggressively requesting or even demanding donations. It is not illegal to dress up as a monk, and in fact panhandlers have been doing it since at least 2013. But it is illegal to be too aggressive in asking for money, and the man in question had already been arrested for that and warned to stay away from the tower. This time, he was charged with failing to comply with recognizance and mischief.
A new poll finds that Torontonians are split on the subject of Uber, the app that has taken flak in cities around the world for attempting to push taxis out of business. While many people in the city like the company, they also think traditional taxis are safer. And though 45 percent of city residents think Uber is good for the city, 37 percent want it banned entirely.
