It's almost the weekend; you can make it. In the news: Ontario's secondary school teachers strike a tentative agreement with the province, police nab a fake monk, and the Ex does its food thing.
Just in time for the new school year, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation have reached a tentative agreement with the province and Ontario Public School Boards’ Association. The union, which represents 115,000 teachers across Ontario, has warned of co-ordinated job actions if there are no new agreements when classes resume in September.
A man pretending to be a Buddhist monk has been arrested for “aggressively asking for money” near the CN Tower. This is apparently a Thing in Toronto; 52 Division of the Toronto Police Service has been investigating fake monks’ aggressive panhandling ways since 2013.
Finally, in news that threatens to out-scandalize even yesterday’s Ashley Madison data leak (we kid, we kid), media outlets got a sneak peek at the CNE’s caloric festival menu yesterday. Expect to find Timbits “poutine” (a major misnomer but whatever) and coffee-and-donut milkshake among this year’s annual gastronomic mistakes.
