  • Canadian YouTube stars will soon have their very own space to create top-of-the-line videos. YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki announced Canada’s very first YouTube Space, an area for content creators with at least 5,000 to 10,000 subscribers and no current copyright strikes or Terms of Service violations to work with professional-level gear, as well as network and collaborate with other likeminded individuals. The Toronto location will be the seventh global YouTube Space—following Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York, São Paulo, and Berlin—and will support 360-degree 3D filming compatible with the Oculus Rift. Cooooooool.
  • TDSB chair Shaun Chen is stepping down from his role as school board chair to run as a candidate in the upcoming federal election. Chen, who will also be taking a leave of absence as a trustee, will be running for the Liberals in the newly created Scarborough North riding. Vice-Chair Sheila Cary-Meagher will be the acting chair until a permanent replacement is found.
  • CBC-TV’s Steven and Chris talk-show co-host Christopher Hyndman has died, police confirmed. Hyndman, 49, was found without vital signs in an alleyway near Queen Street and Broadview Avenue shortly after 11 p.m., just a short walk from his apartment. Detective Terry Wray said that the investigation remains “completely open,” adding that police would not comment until completing interviews. Hyndman leaves behind his television co-host and real-life partner Steven Sabados.
