  • Premier Kathleen Wynne called Conservative MPP Monte McNaughton “outrageous” and “irresponsible” following a London, Ontario information session last week in which he encouraged parents to home-school their children in lieu of learning from the new sex-ed curriculum scheduled to be introduced this fall. Wynne said, “It really shines a light on the different value systems… I believe that updating our health and education curriculum, supporting kids in our publicly funded schools to be safe, to have the information they need is very important.” Opposition leader Patrick Brown’s office did not respond to Wynne’s comments about his Conservative colleague.
  • A funeral was held for 26-year-old Ariela Navarro-Fenoy, one of two victims who died in the Muzik nightclub shooting that took place last Tuesday morning. Navarro-Fenoy was laid to rest following a Spanish funeral mass at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church on Weston Road earlier this morning. So far, there are no arrests in the case.
  • At the peak of the Parapan Am Games, a “sex-positive play party”will be held this week. Deliciously Disabled, the first event of its kind in Canada, will take place on August 14 at the Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Tickets are $20 each. Personal support workers can attend for free.
