FIELD NOTES: Toronto has a bad case of Pan-American fever. We’re jumping on the bandwagon and celebrating the work of Canadian-Chilean street artist Shalak. You may have spotted her beautiful murals about town. Large scale with vibrant colours, Shalak’s tremendous talent makes the work nearly impossible to miss. Like many highly skilled graffiti artists, who could easily tuck their work away in galleries, Shalak chooses to engage with the public through public murals. She enriches our streetscape not only with her fantastic work but with the ideals she expresses through it.

Once a week, Vandalist features some of the most interesting street art and graffiti from around Toronto. Find something great? Email vandalist@torontoist.com.
