Spotted: Jane Fonda and David Suzuki Among Thousands at Climate March

WHERE: Outside of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Queen’s Park; various downtown streets

WHEN: Sunday, July 5, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

WHAT: On Sunday, thousands gathered outside of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario at Queen’s Park to rally and march for action on climate change. The march, which started at Queen’s Park and ended at Allan Gardens, called on the federal government to enact change by moving Canada away from an oil-based economy by shifting into renewable energy. First Nations communities, unionists, environmentalists, health-care workers, anti-poverty groups, and faith organizations were among the many groups marching ahead of the Pan American Economic Summit and the Climate Summit of the Americas, the latter of which is to be hosted in Toronto Tuesday through Thursday of this week. The upcoming summits plan to tackle issues surrounding global warming by creating an action plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
