Sound Advice: Bizzarh, Sean Jones, Tanika Charles

Bizzarh brings the fire: We’ve been clamouring for Toronto duo Bizzarh (Charli Champ and Dollar Paris) to finally put out a full-length project for more than a minute now. No word on if their second EP will still be titled Soft Porn but in the meantime, they’ve dropped a gem that will serve to tide us over. “Dragon” brings the fire and shows why a new release from the duo can’t arrive fast enough.

Sean Jones stokes desire: Old heads might recall Canadian R&B group In Essence, who had a couple of hits back in the day in “You’ll Never Find” and “Friend of Mine.” These days, ex-group member Sean Jones is on the solo tip, delivering a classic soul-type flavour with album Waiting For Midnight. Case in point: current single “One in a Million,” a ballad number that demonstrates his solid vocal ability and range. Waiting For Midnight is out now.

Tanika Charles takes it higher: It’s finally here: the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. From a musical perspective there will be a lot of cool stuff happening around the Games’ PANAMANIA festival. Local R&B singer Tanika Charles will be just one of the local artists doing her thing at the CIBC Pan Am Park. Known for her collaborations with artists like Zaki Ibrahim and Emmanuel Jal, she is reportedly putting the finishing touches on a new album.
