It could be the hottest day of the year out there, so make sure to have lots of freezies and popsicles. In the news: Jermaine Carby's toxicology report, the McNicoll bus garage goes ahead, and Batman has car trouble.

The Toronto Sun reports that Jermaine Carby’s toxicology report shows he had crystal meth, ecstasy, and marijuana in his system when he was shot dead by Peel Police in September. Along with Andrew Loku, Carby has been the subject of significant protests from Black Lives Matter and advocates for police reform. The 33-year-old was shot multiple times by police, who claim he was wielding a 13-inch serrated kitchen knife after they stopped the vehicle he was in. The Special Investigation Unit inquiry found that the evidence was “tampered” with, but did not lay any charges against the officers.
The environmental assessment for the McNicoll Bus Garage in north Scarborough has been approved by the Province. The TTC has long needed fleet storage capacity in the city’s east end, and, despite local opposition, the $190-million project is set to proceed. The TTC began purchasing industrial land for the project in 2005, and construction is projected to be complete by 2019.
In Batman news, the Caped Crusader’s vehicle experienced car trouble on the 401 on Sunday evening. Stephen Lawrence has apparently played Batman in one form or another since age 14, and in addition to wearing the iconic outfit the 39-year-old who goes by “Brampton Batman” drives around a heavily modded (but street-legal!) Batmobile. On his return from a charity event in Kingston, the Dark Knight had to pull over and use his detective skills to determine what was wrong with the vehicle; Lawrence says the hatch was loose.
