  • A security guard involved in the shooting deaths of two men at an east-end McDonald’s won’t be facing charges, police announced this morning. The security guard, who has not been named, fired his weapon in the restaurant following a “significant physical altercation” with Donny Ouimette, 25, and Ryan Hind, 39. Senior Crown attorneys involved in the case said, “It was determined that there would be no reasonable prospect of conviction, therefore no criminal charges will be laid.”
  • Despite a petition to remove Kanye West from the Ottawa Bluesfest earlier this month due to general douchebaggery, our Lord Yeezus is slated to join Pittbull and Serena Ryder at the Rogers Centre “Pan Am Ceremonies Venue” July 26 for the closing ceremonies, Games organizers confirmed this morning.
  • The CBC has installed four beehives on the roofs of the Toronto CBC Broadcasting Centre and the Maison Radio-Canada in Montreal. The hives, which contain around 20,000 honeybees, is part of the CBC’s contribution to fight the decline of bee populations. Daniel Langevin, CBC/Radio-Canada’s manager of health, safety, and environment for real estate services says that the CBC anticipates 50,000 bees by the end of the summer.
