- In an apparent attempt at overcompensating for Toronto’s lack of interest in this year’s Pan Am Games, the Toronto Pan Am sign is here to stay, the city announced Sunday. The sign will remain at Nathan Phillips Square as a commemoration of Toronto’s involvement in the Games, and will then be moved to different locations throughout the city come end of the year.
- If you’re walking around the city this week, you may stumble upon a larger-than-usual number of chalk drawings on Toronto’s downtown streets. The #ChalkYourSidewalk campaign meets today at Nathan Phillips Square, calling for children and their families to call on the Canadian government to reach its goals in supporting countries facing extreme poverty.
- UberX drivers are now able to pick up two different ride requests heading on similar routes with its new car-pooling service. As part of the Toronto Pan Am Games, company officials promise savings of between 20 to 50 per cent, depending on the length the ride is shared, with a maximum of two people from each group allowed in a vehicle. The service will run until the end of the Games.
