  • Ever wanted to see a band none of your friends liked? Been ditched right before a show one too many times? Meet Meet On The Way, a new website and soon-to-be iOS app for concert-goers and music lovers wishing to connect with others before shows. The social platform, released June 1, is aimed at grouping strangers with like interests and music tastes to ensure no one attends concerts and the preamble pre-drinking events all by their lonesome. The website saw a surge in traffic during last month’s NXNE music fest, and is quoted by us as being a “really freaking awesome idea.”
  • A state of the art Alzheimer’s care facility is facing bankruptcy despite $5.4 million in funding from the federal government. Officials at B’nai Brith, who opened the Alzheimer Centre of Excellence near Bathurst and Finch last December, say that high costs–a $7,500 monthly charge for in-care patients–are to blame for its low occupancy rate. The facility owes $11 million to creditors, and is currently up for sale.
  • Former Indiana Pacers power forward Luis Scola will be joining the Toronto Raptors. The 6’9 Argentinian reportedly signed a $3 million one-year deal with the team, and earlier this morning he tweeted, “We the north… Here I come :)” The announcement came just minutes after the league’s moratorium was lifted at midnight.
