If the word “reggaeton” conjures nothing to you but Daddy Yankee’s decade-old “Gasolina” hit (which we think is a modern classic, but we digress), then you should know that one of the totally respectable genre’s major talents has been in your backyard this whole time. The Panama-born, Mississauga-raised Fito Blanko has been pumping out his homeland’s signature tropical-fusion dance jams since the early aughties, all the while sending pelvises expertly a’sway in and around the southern hemisphere. And wouldn’t you know, Fito’s latest single, “Meneo,” was included in the Furious 7 soundtrack–clearly, the world is catching on. So lace up your most sensible dance shoes–or, hell, strap on your tallest tacones–and prep yourself for some muscle burn.
