It has now been five years since the G20 overtook Toronto. In the news: Bombardier is still delayed on those long overdue streetcars, Kathleen Wynne doesn't want you to watch this TVO documentary, and the Raptors get a minor league team in Mississauga.

TTC Chair Josh Colle (Ward 15, Eglinton-Lawrence) expressed frustration with Bombardier’s production of the new streetcars. The TTC expected to have 60 streetcars by this point of the contract, but only six have been delivered due to supply chain problems and a labour dispute, among other problems. Colle indicated that Bombardier has paid $50 million in contract penalties, but the City has limited tools to enforce the order’s timeliness.

The Toronto Star has details on the documentary Kathleen Wynne and her advisers don’t want you to see. Filmed for TVO, the documentary follows the premier and her team behind the scenes as they prepared the budget earlier this year. But when the filmmakers showed a preview of the film, the Wynne team refused to sign release forms, which essentially spiked the movie. Among the tidbits: the premier says she is “never speaking to one particular reporter again, who her partner refers to as a “twerp,” and that Conservative MPP Monte McNaughton is a “Neanderthal.”

Just in time for draft day, the Toronto Raptors have a location for their first Development League team. The Raptors’ first minor league affiliate will be conveniently located in Mississauga, where fans can likely see a fair amount of developing youngster Bruno Caboclo. Owning their own team rather than sending their players to suit up for other franchises will mean more say in playing style, and who gets playing time.
