A Toronto-bound Megabus crashed on Highway 401 near Lancaster yesterday afternoon, injuring 23 of the double-decker’s 43 passengers. The bus was headed from Montreal when it may have swerved to avoid an oncoming tractor-trailer, then careened into a ditch.
A new Metrolinx study shows that future transit projects like the York-Spadina subway extension could relieve congestion on the swollen Yonge subway line, but only temporarily. According to the study, the effective long-term solution for route congestion would be a “long” downtown relief line, which would encompass up to 14 new stations to the tune of $7.8 billion. Are your fingers crossed yet? Better get on that.
The City’s executive committee is meeting next week to talk about gambling. No, no, not that way—more precisely, the expansion of gaming to generate funds for the City. A new report from City staff suggests that expanding gambling at Woodbine Racetrack could generate up to $14 million in annual revenue for the City of Toronto. So, executive committee will discuss further gambling options, because why just stop at one little track?
